Loan words change phonetically according to the phonetics of the recipient language. Arabic loan words in Turkish change phonetically in accordance with Turkish phonetics. While some Arabic loan words adapt to Turkish vowel harmony, some others stay disharmonic. It is not possible to explain all disharmonic changes with our present knowledge. However, it can be said that some of the disharmonic changes in front and back vowels are caused by palatals, velars, lateral and long vowels. Main reason of disharmonic change in rounding is the labials. The vowels of Arabic loanwords in Turkish, show us that vowel-consonant harmony in Turkish is prior to the front-back vowel harmony
