As an American Board missionary, Reverend Frederick DavisGreene served in the Ottoman Empire. He was working a Protestantreverend. He spent four years in Van. During his stay he followed Armenianevents carefully in the vicinity of Sasun. Greene did not witness theArmenian revolts but he published his opinions and evaluations in hisbooks. His books were filled with anti-Ottoman and anti-Islam views.Similiar books were written by American missionaries. Thus in his books,Greene shares his views on the situation of the Armenian and Kurdish tribesin Eastern Anatolia from the point of view of an American protestantmissionary. He was depicting the activities of the Ottoman army andanalyzing the the causes and consequences of the Armenian Question in abiased and tendentious way.
