Abstract:

This study examined the relationship between the emotional intelligence (DZ) and critical thinking tendencies (EDE) and the subdimensions of students in the Department of Music Education. This study, which is a screening model, was conducted with a total of 204 students studying in the final class of the Music Education Department, randomly chosen from 6 different universities. In order to determine the DZ in the study, the adaptation to Turkey by Saltukoğlu, Tatar and Tok made 41 articles "Schutte Emotional (Viewed) Intelligence Scale", to determine the EDE, the adaptation to Turkey by Kökdemir made 51 articles "California Critical Thought Trend Scale", 10 articles "Personal Information Form" used by the researcher to determine demographic characteristics. In data analysis, the frequency, percentage distribution, t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, post-hoc Scheffe test, post-hoc Mann-Whitney U test, Pearson Correlation Score values were taken. According to the findings obtained, there has been a "mediate" difficulty, meaningful and positive relationship between the overall EDE level and the overall DZ level. The conclusion has been made that the demographic characteristics of musician candidates in relation to EDE levels have caused significant differences in terms of age, high school and knowledge level in relation to DZ, and that they have caused no partial or entirely significant differences in terms of gender.
