Abstract:

This study was carried out in order to evaluate the situation regarding the education of immigrants in these dissertations by analyzing the content of doctoral theses written on migration and immigrants in Turkey between 2011-2020. The study data were obtained from the National Thesis Center and based on the data of a total of 62 doctoral theses that are free to access. Examined doctoral theses; the year it was published, its university, institute, departments, subject areas, research designs, sample sizes, data collection techniques, and tools were examined. In the research, content analysis was made using the scanning method and the percentages and frequencies of the findings were presented with the help of tables and graphics. According to the results of the analysis, it was seen that the most doctoral theses on migration were written in the 2019-2020 period. It has been determined that most of the doctoral theses written were done in Istanbul and Ankara universities, social sciences institute, sociology department and sociology field. In addition, it was seen that the most qualitative research design was used as a research method. In the data collection technique, and data analysis, interview and document analysis technique, which is suitable for the most widely used qualitative research design, was used as a research method. In terms of the subject, it was concluded that only three of the theses examined were about the education of immigrants and the number of theses written about the education of immigrants was insufficient.
