SURİYELİ ORTAOKUL ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN OKUL ORTAMINA UYUMUNUN ÖĞRETMEN GÖRÜŞLERİNE GÖRE İNCELENMESİ

Abstract:

Bu araştırmanın amacı Suriyeli ortaokul öğrencilerinin okul ortamına uyumunun öğretmen görüşlerine göre incelenmesidir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda Suriyeli mülteci öğrencilerin okula uyumları, arkadaşları ile iletişimleri, dil problemleri ve okula alışma süreçleri gibi konular incelenmiştir. Araştırma, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden olgubilim deseni ile tasarlanmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu, kolay ulaşılabilir örnekleme yöntemi ile seçilen İstanbul ilinde farklı branşlarda görev yapmakta olan 22 kadın 4 erkek olmak üzere toplam 26 öğretmenden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada, araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen “Mülteci Öğrencilerin Okula Uyum Formu” veri toplama aracı olarak kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, öğretmenlerin yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerle karşılaştıkları problemlerin genel olarak dil probleminden kaynaklandığı görüşüne sahip olduğu görülmüştür. Öğretmenler bu probleme çözüm olarak empati yapma, öğrencilerin etkinliklere katılmasını ve kendilerini ifade etmek için cesaretlendirmeleri gerektiğini belirtmişlerdir.

Abstract:

The aim of this study is to study the adaptation of Syrian high school students to the school environment according to the teachers’ opinions. For this purpose, issues such as the adaptation of Syrian refugee students to school, communication with their friends, language problems and school abnormality processes have been studied. The research is designed by the methods of quality research. The study’s work group consists of a total of 26 teachers, including 22 women and 4 men, who are working in different branches in Istanbul, selected by the easy-to-access sample method. The research was used as a data collection tool, developed by the researcher, the "Form of School Adaptation of Refugees Students". Research finds that teachers have the view that the problems they encounter with foreign students generally arise from language problems. Teachers pointed out that empathy as a solution to this problem should encourage students to participate in the events and express themselves.

Issues such as Syrian refugee students' adaptation to school, communication with their friends, language problems, and school adjustment processes were examined for this purpose. The research was designed with a phenomenological design from qualitative research methods. The study group consists of a total of 26 teachers, including 22 women and 4 men, who work in different branch teachers in the province of Istanbul, selected by an easily accessible sampling method. In the study, the “school adjustment form of refugee students” developed by the researcher was used as a data collection tool. According to the results of the research, it has been found that teachers have the opinion that the problems they encounter with foreign students are generally caused by language problems. Teachers stated that empathy should be the solution to this problem, students should participate in activities and encourage them to express themselves.
