Homework assignments are the physical or mental activities performed by students either individually or as a group to ensure their learning retention of the course content and to increase both their skills and knowledge. The aim of this study was to analyze university students' opinions about homework assignments. University students' status regarding assignments, and their thoughts and suggestions about such assignments were examined by using the case study design, which is one of the qualitative research designs. The study group consisted of 76 students (most of whom were seniors) from 8 faculties (Agriculture, Engineering & Architecture, Economics & Administrative Sciences, Education, Forestry, Health Sciences, Science & Letters, and Theology) at Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University. In the analysis of the data, content analysis was used for the open-ended questions and descriptive analysis was used for the closed-ended questions. The students stated that they do homework assignments in 38.77% of the courses and spend 20.68% of their daily study time for them. They also stated that homework assignments help them in many ways. However, they reported having some problems during the homework completion process as well. The most prominent among these problems are limited time, limited resources, reliable data, and problem of interaction with instructors while doing their homework. Based on the opinions of the students participating in the study, the following suggestions are made: Assignments help students improve; therefore, they should be definitely used in the instructional processes. The successful achievement of assignment-related outcomes depend directly on the amount of effort and time spent on them by students.
