Yeni Türk Devleti’nde, 29 Ekim 1923’te Cumhuriyet’in ilan edilmesi ile köklü bir rejim değişikliği olmuştur. Bu rejimde gücü milletin adına kullanacak, milletin yetkilendireceği kişilerden oluşacak bir meclise ihtiyaç vardır. Bu meclis Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi olmuştur.Bu süreci siyasi partiler üstlenecek, yöntem olarak seçim sistemi uygulanacaktır. Siyasal parti olarak CHF(CHP)’yi, seçim sistemi olarak İntihabı Mebusan’ın değiştirilmiş halini kullanmaya başlamıştır.1945 yılına kadar CHP ile tek parti iktidarına dayalı olarak devam eden yönetim, bu tarihten sonra yeni siyasi partilerin kurulmasıyla devam etmiştir. 1950 seçimlerinde ülke yönetimini DP devralmıştır. 27 Mayıs 1960’da gerçekleşen darbe DP yönetimine son verirken yeni bir anayasa hazırlanmasına ve meclis yapısının da değişmesine neden olmuştur. Bu çalışmada 1961-1970 yılları arasında TBMMXII, XIII, XIV.(MM I., MM II., MM III.) dönemleri İçel’den milletvekili seçilerek, TBMM’ye giden 15 vekilin siyasi kimlikleri ve mecliste ki çalışmaları incelenerek, genelde ülkeye yerelde de İçel’e olan katkılarına bakılmıştır.Milletvekillerinin biyografileri incelenmiş olup yaşları, meslekleri, eğitim durumları gibi kişisel bilgileri değerlendirilmeye çalışılmıştır.Milletvekillerinin siyasi parti tercihleri, halkın kendilerine olan teveccühleri, kaç dönem görev yaptıkları, mecliste bulundukları süreç içerisinde ki siyasi faaliyetleri tek tek incelenmiş ve tasnif edilmiştir. Yapılan tasnifler sonucunda meclisteki yapmış oldukları çalışmaları, bu çalışmaların hangi konularda yoğunlaştığı ve çalışmalarının İçel’e yansımaları değerlendirilmiştir.
