Abstract:

 There are many artists using the weaving tradition in their works in our country and the world. One of these artists is the contemporary artist of Azerbaijan, Faig Ahmed. The artist is a graduate of Baku State Fine Arts University, Department of Sculpture, and it has been seen that he has been using traditional weavings in his works since 2004. The artist is known for his works that transform traditional weaving arts and the visual and symbolic language of carpets into contemporary art. He creates new imaginative boundaries by reviving the ancient art of weaving and transforming traditions in his works. In this research, the workshop of artist Faig Ahmed, who was taken his place in contemporary art with his different carpet sculptures, was visited and he was interviewed and the place of his art in traditional and modern arts was tried to be explained by examining scientific studies on his art. Predetermined questions were directed to the artist, his works were examined and his understanding of art were tried to be analyzed in the article. It is thought that the introduction of the works of the artist Faig Ahmed, who feeds on traditional weaving and creates his style by including weaving in contemporary art, will also contribute to our weaving art's development. The place of Ahmed's art in the art of weaving was analyzed by examining the artist's education, the artists who influenced him, how his style was formed, his technique, the materials he used, and the workshops at which he worked. As a result of the analysis of the works of the world-famous contemporary artist Faig Ahmed, it was tried to determine the contributions of his art and his understanding of art to the art of weaving.
