Abstract:

Divan literature is one of the basic building blocks of Turkish literature. However, with the passage of time and changing conditions, the new generation's view of divan literature has changed. This study was carried out in order to reveal the reflection of this change on Turkish language and literature teachers who will start their profession. In the study, the opinions of the students who graduated from the Turkish language and literature departments of 14 different universities and who took formation from Gazi University in the spring term of 2022, on the teaching of divan literature subjects in high schools were taken. In line with this content, the phenomenology pattern was used depending on the qualitative research in the study and the obtained data were analyzed by content analysis. According to data it has been determined that the subjects that should be emphasized in the teaching of the subjects of Divan literature are the subject of poets, writers and verse forms, the social and historical structure of the period and the general characteristics of the divan literature, and “Fuzûlî, Bâki, Nâbi, Nedim ve Nef’î" came to the fore as the representatives of this period. According to the results of the study, it has been determined that the majority of the participants consider the "Republican period" literature more important than other periods among the subjects of Turkish language and literature courses in high schools. At the end of the study, it was suggested that the subjects of Divan literature, which were compressed into 6 weeks in the MEB curriculum, should be given in parallel with the history lesson subjects in 10 weeks, spread over four years.
