Abstract:

The fact that today's society is becoming increasingly consumer is changing the quality of life and lifestyle of the individual. This has made gated community an attraction. Gated community can be expressed as residential areas of households from the middle and upper income group that are closed to the outside, protected by special security measures and have various social opportunities. Gated communities, which are encountered today with various forms of production, form cities that weaken the individual's perception of space. In this context, the study questions the perceptual space readings of Gated communities formed by personal experience. Within the scope of the study, Naturapark, Mete mansions and Temaşehir gated communities, which are divided according to different income groups in Konya, were examined comparatively. Their current status was determined by on-site examination and observation. The mental mapping method developed by Lynch and the Gestalt basic design and composition principles analyzed the factors affecting the individual's perception of space. As a result, a combination of social spaces, landscape areas and different spatial functions were considered in decidedly gated communities. However, according to the middle and upper income situation, the use of space has diverged and the integration fiction has remained weak.
