Lise Öğrencilerinin Sosyal Paylaşım Sitelerinin Eğitimde Kullanılmasına İlişkin Görüşlerinin Değerlendirilmesi

Bu çalışma ile lise öğrencilerinin sosyal paylaşım sitelerini kullanma amaçlarının belirlenmesi ve sosyal paylaşım sitelerinin eğitimde kullanılması ile ilgili görüşleri değerlendirilmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen veri toplama aracı, 2013-2014 bahar döneminde Diyarbakır ili merkez ilçelerinde öğrenim gören 3241 lise öğrencisine uygulanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, lise öğrencilerinin %80’nin en az bir sosyal paylaşım sitelerinde hesabının olduğu, büyük bir bölümünün (%33,7) cep telefonları ile bu sitelere bağladığı, öğrencilerin önemli bir bölümünün (%32,4) gün içerisinde 30 dakikadan az bir süre ile oturumlarını açık tuttukları, öğrencilerin büyük bir bölümünün (%67,7) ilk tercih olarak Facebook adlı sosyal paylaşım sitesini kullandığı tespit edilmiştir. Öte yandan araştırma sonucunda sosyal paylaşım sitelerinin eğitimde kullanılmasına ilişkin öğrenci görüşleri incelendiğinde, cinsiyet, tercih edilen sosyal paylaşım sitesi, sınıf, öğrenim görülen okul türüne göre anlamlı farklılıklar olduğu gözlemlenmiştir.

Evaluation of High School Students' Opinions on the Use of Social Sharing Sites in Education

Abstract:

This study has been aimed at evaluating the views of high school students about the purpose of using social media sites and the use of social media sites in education. According to this purpose, the data collection tool developed by the researcher was applied to 3241 high school students who studied in the central districts of Diyarbakır in the spring period 2013-2014. The study found that less than 80% of high school students have an account on social media sites, that a large portion (33.7%) connects them with their mobile phones, that a large portion (32.4%) of students keep their sessions open for less than 30 minutes within a day, and that a large portion (67.7) of students use the social media site Facebook as their first preference. On the other hand, the research results; when the students’ opinions on the use of social media sites in education are examined, there are significant differences according to gender, preferred social media site, classroom, type of school that is studied.

With this study, it is tried to determine purpose of usage online networking sites of the secondary students and to evaluate students’ opinion about the using online social networking sites in education. Through this aim, the survey developed from the researcher was applied to the students who studied in Central Town of Diyarbakır city in 2013-2014 academic year’s spring semester. At the result of the study, it was determined that 80 percent of the students have at least one account on online social networking sites, a large part of students (33,7%) connect this sites via their mobile phones, majority part of students (23,4%) connect these sites less than 30 minutes in a day, most of secondary students (67,7%) are using Facebook online networking site. On the other hand at the result of the study, it is observed that there are significant differences at secondary school students’ opinions about the using online social networking sites on education, according to gender, preferred social networking site, types of school they studied.
