Abstract:

The understanding of the wealth and importance of the teaching profession can be achieved by the person’s interpretation of the teacher term. There are very few studies that have been conducted with pre-school teachers candidates. This need to be done in order to remove this lack in the field and to emphasize the importance of this subject. The purpose of this research is to identify the perceptions of the first-class pre-school teacher candidates about the teaching profession through metaphors. This work is 1101. The first class was made with the teacher's candidate. 94 percent of the participants are women and 16 percent are men. Teachers are asked to fill a semi-configured interview form.  This study is a qualitative research and the fact scientific design has been used in the study. In the analysis of data, the content analysis technique is used from the quality research methods. The data obtained from the conversations was collected under categories by coding and examining the logical foundations. The teachers candidates who participated in the study have developed a total of 47 metaphors. The most commonly used metaphor was the "baby" metaphor. The created metaphors are ranked in 6 categories in the form of "Guiding/Showing, Required, Illuminating, Informing, Forming and Loved" teachers. Teacher candidates expressed the word "Teacher" with 28 (60%) unlive, 19 (40%) living beings. 12 (11%) of teaching candidates have compared their "learning" profession to other professions. 46 of the metaphors in the study (98%) are concrete and total positive. The metaphors revealed that teachers’ candidates looked at their professions from different perspectives. This work is limited to teachers candidates who are seeing pre-school education. A similar study may be done with teachers candidates or experienced teachers who study in other sections, comparing teachers candidates with the metaphors of teachers may be recommended.
