Abstract:

Belgesel tarama yöntemi ile ulusal ve uluslararası yazılı ve görsel kaynakların incelendiği, tarihi süreçte farklı toplumlardaki pelerin kullanımının ve Türk giyinme kültürüne yansımalarının ortaya konmasının amaçlandığı bu tarihi araştırmada; Sümer Babil, Asur, İran, Mısır ve Sardunya ve Avrupa’daki birçok medeniyette antik dönemlerde yaygın olarak kullanıldığı görülen pelerinin milattan önceye tarihlendiği görülmüştür. 17. Yüzyıl ve sonrasında bostancıbaşı ve yeniçeri gibi devlet erkanının ve nadir de olsa padişahların bazılarının harmani/havrani adında bir pelerin türü kullandıkları, 18. Yüzyılda başlayan batılılaşma hareketleriyle birlikte batı modasının etkisiyle pelerin kullanımı 20 yüzyılın başlarında padişahlardan, orduya, saraydan halka kadar yayıldığı ve sembolik işlevleri ile giyinme kültürünün içinde yer aldığı tespit edilmiştir.

Cloak and Its Reflections On Turkish Clothing Culture In The Historical Process

Abstract:

In this historical research, in which national and international written and visual sources are examined with the documentary scanning method, it is aimed to reveal the use of cloaks in different societies in the historical process and its reflections on Turkish dressing culture; It has been seen that the cloak, which was widely used in ancient times in Sumer, Babylon, Assyria, Iran, Egypt and Sardinia, and many civilizations in Europe, was dated to BC. In the 17th century and later, state officials such as bostancıbaşı and janissaries and some of the sultans, although rarely, used a type of cloak called blend/havrani, the use of cloaks spread from the sultans, the army, the palace to the public at the beginning of the 20th century, with the influence of western fashion, together with the westernization movements that started in the 18th century. It has been determined that it is included in the dressing culture with its symbolic functions.
