Nutritional rickets continues to be a major public health problem for our country. It still affects both infants and adolescents although significant progress has been made with the vitamin D supplementation program. Nutritional rickets is thought to be only associated with vitamin D so that even physicians neglect adequate calcium intake, especially during adolescence.A 12-year-old immobilized girl with incidentally detected hypocalcemia was evaluated and rickets was diagnosed. Our aim in presenting this case was to describe the role of calcium and vitamin D deficiency in the etiology of nutritional rickets and to emphasize the requirement of adequate vitamin D and calcium intake, especially in adolescents
