Abstract:

The aim of this research is to examine preservice preschool teachers' associating science concepts with daily life. Case study was used as a research method. Participants consists of 27 second grade preservice preschool teaches’ who are determined by the appropriate sampling method, one of the purposeful sampling methods. The research was carried out in the Pre-School Science and Daily Life course. Data were collected via the activity plans and classroom observations prepared by preservice preschool teachers. The science concepts and activity types used in these data sources constitute the data of the research. Descriptive analysis was used for the science concepts associated in the activity plan, and content analysis was used to determine the prepared science activities. In the results of the research, it was determined that the associations between science and daily life were mostly associated with the concepts of sense and opposite themes, color theme was not used at all, and science concept associations were also made that were not included in Ministry of National Education Preschool Education Program, 2013. It is seen that most associate informal learning environments respectively were made with kitchen, bazaar, bathroom, playground, and market. It was determined that the activity plans were prepared in the form of an integrated activity plan using Science, Turkish, Mathematics, Play, Drama, Movement, Field Trip activity types
