Özet:

Object: To examine the chapter related to regimen of elders in Kitāb al-Mukhtārāt fī al-ibb by Muhadhdhab al-dīn b. Hubal al-Baghdādī (1122-1213) who served the Ahlatshahs, the Artuqids and the Zengids during the Seljuq era in this study. Materials and Method: A printed copy of Kitāb al-Mukhtārāt fī al-ibb by Muhadhdhab al-dīn b. Hubal al-Baghdādī in the Library of Department of History of Medicine and Ethics, Faculty of Medicine, Ankara University is examined in this study. The chapter regarding the regime of elders in the first volume of the book is translated from Arabic to Turkish, and presented in results section, and then discussed with the information on this subject in the light of literature for the history of medicine. Results: Information on the regime of elders is in the final section of the chapter related to the regime of the children, the young, the middle-aged and the old under the title of "faṣl fī tadbīr al-insān min al-ṣibyān wa al-shubbān wa al-kuhūl wa al-mashāyikh". Conclusion: The information on the regime of elders are in accordance with the principles of humoral paradigm and quite parallel to those in the works known as main sources of medicine such as Liber Regalis by Haly Abbas and the Canon of Medicine by Avicenna in Islamic world in medieval times.
