Bu araştırma, ortaokul altıncı sınıf matematik dersinin alan ölçme ve çember konularında şarkılarla yapılan öğretimin, akademik başarı ve kalıcılığa etkisini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu çalışma 2014–2015 eğitim öğretim yılında, Bolu ilindeki bir ortaokulun 47 altıncı sınıf öğrencisiyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma, eşitlenmemiş kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desende tasarlanmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak geliştirilen başarı testi, ön test, son test ve kalıcılık testi olarak kullanılmıştır. Deneysel uygulama sürecinde deney grubu şarkılarla, kontrol grubu mevcut programdaki etkinliklerle öğrenim görmüştür. Araştırma sonucunda şarkılarla yapılan öğretimin, mevcut programdaki etkinliklerle yapılan uygulamaya göre hem akademik başarı hem de kalıcılık sağlama konusunda daha etkili olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of instruction which was enriched by songs on sixth grade students' academic achievement and retention of this achievement related to measurement and circle learning subjects. This study was conducted with 47 sixth grade students in a public middle school in Bolu district during 2014-2015 spring semester. An achievement test developed by the researchers was used as the data collection instrument. The test was consisted of 36 open-ended questions related to the measurement and circle subjects. The same test was used as pretest, posttest and retention test. Findings revealed that the mathematics instruction which was enriched by songs has an significant effect on sixth grade students' academic achievement and retention of this achievement related to measurement and circle learning subjects
