Chylothorax is accumulation of lymphatic fluid in pleural cavity, which is enriched with fat secreted by intestinal cells. Chylothorax is an uncommon disease in children and is usually a postoperative complication mainly occuring after thoracic or cardiac interventions. The volume and the speed of chyle loss determine the clinical symptoms and severity. The diagnosis is confirmed by finding lymphatic fluid in pleural effusion. Most of the patients respond to medical treatment with use of total parenteral nutrition enriched with medium chain triglyceride (MCT) oil and pleural drainage. Extended period of effusion may require surgical intervention. In this article our aim is to present a case with chylothorax which is rarely seen in children that is developed after a minor trauma and recovered with conservative treatment.
