Abstract:

Introduction and Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of students of the Faculty of Dental Medicine of Istanbul Aydin University on cross-infection control. Method and Requirements: This study is organized for students of third, fourth and fifth classes in the 2018-2019 Spring and Spring period. The aim is to measure the awareness and awareness of infection control according to the answers the students give to the survey questions, to evaluate their skills in this field. Some of the participants in the study have already to choose, some have been asked to answer the questions consisting of two options. The survey was conducted by Ki-Qare and Fisher Exact tests. In all analyses, p 0.05 was considered meaningful. The total number of students who received the HBV vaccine was 150 (91,5%) and the total number of students who received the tetanus vaccine was 130 (80,2%). These rates (HBV 90.9 percent, tetanus 79.4 percent) were higher in women than in men (HBV 60 percent, tetanus 53 percent). 93.9% of students said they wore gloves during the treatment, 97.6% said they wore gloves between two patients, 87.2% said they wore masks during the treatment, 70.1% said they wore masks between two patients, 91% said they wore two patient seats and clinical disinfection. Although the student’s ratio of students who improved their handwashing habits after the patient’s examination was 82.9%, the handwashing ratio before the wear of gloves was less than 29.3%, and according to class distribution 3. Classes are always performed at a rate of 44% and statistically meaningful (p<0.05). During the treatment, the use of protective siper was found to be less than 21.3 percent (p=0.028). The Faculty of Dentistry of Istanbul Aydin University has shown that students have a weak awareness of cross-infection control, but have an acceptable attitude and level of knowledge. Therefore, training workshops and necessary facilities on infection control isolation and prevention can be arranged to ensure compliance with the infection control policies.
