Abstract:

Today, the importance of family participation in pre-school education is increasing. The findings show that schools and teachers who receive the support of the family in education are more pressured in giving students behavior in the desired direction and in achieving the institutional goals. Also, the student who applies the information taught in the school to his daily life makes the information he has obtained by continuing the teachings in the school at home permanent. Teachers, no matter how specialized they are in their fields, are difficult to realize their programs without adding the family that their students received their first education to education. In our country, the importance of family participation in terms of education is realized, and the family participation plays are given more detailed in the programs over time. The 2006 Pre-School Education Program is the most genetic way to deal with family participation. Studies show that with parent involvement schools and teachers can make desired changes in students' behaviors and are able to fulfill their educational goals. In addition, students are able to apply the knowledge they gain at school to their daily lives including their home. By doing so, knowledge becomes permanent. Teachers, no matter how knowledgeable they are, without including parents – the first teachers – in the education process, would face difficulties to fulfill their goals regarding their educational programs. Since the value of parent involvement is understood, in the course of time, it is included with details in programs in Turkey. Parent ınvolvement is mentioned in great details in the program of 2006.
