Abstract:

One of the most important objectives of education teaching is to educate individuals who have acquired the skills that meet the needs of the age in which we are. All of these skills provide the necessary equipment for a person to be successful in the social life. One of these skills is communication skills. The most important step to gain this skill is the school. In schools with a mini-community model, the individual develops communication skills. Therefore, it is very important that our teachers first and foremost have their own communication skills. In this regard, the purpose of the research is to determine the level of communication skills of the teacher candidates, to study whether they differ according to the "Communication Skills Scale" subdimensions and different variables (gender, section, gano, mother education status, father education status, family income status, place of life). The research has used a screening model. The research study group formed a total of 448 teachers candidates, including 312 women and 136 men, who studied in various departments in the 2018-2019 academic year at the Mediterranean University School of Education. In the study, the "Communication Skills Scale" developed by Akkuzu and Akkaya to determine the level of communication skills of the teacher candidates was used by taking the necessary permissions. The statistical package program has been used in the data processing phase. When the results of the study were evaluated, it was found that the average level of communication skills of the teacher candidates was high, and there was no connection between gender, division and father's educational status and communication skills, independent of the variables. In contrast, it is possible to say that there is a meaningful relationship between the mother’s education status, the family’s education status, the place variables experienced before the university.
