Abstract:

The object of this article is the usage of the family ties within the immigrant Turkish families who have settled in France. The research aims to understand the process of recomposition of family tie network between France and Turkey. Some ressources which were used by the immigrants for the realization of their immigration projects are examined. The family relations are considered not in a substantialist manner but as networks of attachment which go together with other type of networks, more concrete ones such as the region of origin, neighbouring or more symbolic ones such as values and beliefs. An analysis is conducted on the different forms taken by the parcours of immigrants following which they might or not have mobilised their relatives for immigration. It appears that family solidarity plays an all together decisive role when these families entered in a society where the individual have to be free from the family attachments and communities.
