Abstract:

We don't really think about the true meaning of many words we use today. Where is the first starting point of the word? What is the source? Why is it used this way? These and other questions are unnoticed by everyday language users. This situation only attracts the attention of people interested in the language. The Turkish language is included in the appendix group. Additive languages are divided into two as fusing and connected languages. Turkish language is in the connected languages group. The words, which are in the form of root or body in Turkish, do not usually break the meaning connection with the root word even if they add different appendices to them and derive new words. Göz > göz+cü, göz+cü+lük; göz+lük, göz+lük+çü, göz+lük+çü+lük. Words that prove that language is a living entity do not survive within the meaning circle when they first appeared. The Word bayağı has contracted meaning. The word is now defined as “nondescript, commonplace, ” in Turkish Dictionary. In this study, it will be determined on the origin of the word by including the contemporary dialects of Turkish language by determining the meaning of the Turkish language in the historical periods.
