Abstract In a population placed in the final stages of the Health Transition, and with a life expectancy among the highest in the international context, it is necessary to dissect mortality by any criteria of disaggregation in the various components that form it. Thus, it is imperious isolate those sectors: generations, groups, gender, etc., which hinder a potential life even greater than that observed. It is in this sense that the work makes a contribution to the knowledge of the Cuban demographics since it unveils the role played today by the color of the skin as a criterion for differentiation of mortality in the country, both at national and at provincial level
