Abstract:

Virtual Reality (VR) has many practice areas related to care and treatment in the health sector. VR technology is used in areas such as surgery, health care services, rehabilitation and exercise of patients, education of patients, healthcare professionals and clinical students. In recent years, it has been preferred as a tool that supports preventive and caring health services especially in clinical practice. Preparing for medical procedure and practice during the procedure is one of them. Medical procedures are a source of pain, fear, anxiety, and anxiety for all age groups. Especially for children and their families, such as hospitalization, medical or surgical procedures are complex and stressful, but they can create fear and anxiety in children.These feelings seriously affect children's comfort levels. In painful medical interventions, non-pharmacological methods as well as pharmacology are also used, taking into account the age group characteristics of children. One of the non-pharmacological methods, drawing attention to another direction, is often used in medical procedures to reduce pain, fear and anxiety. For this purpose, Virtual Reality applications or products are preferred before or during medical procedure in children in recent years. In this review, the effects of the use of Virtual Reality especially to reduce the pain, fear, anxiety and stress of the child in preparation or during the medical procedure are presented in accordance with the literature.
