Abstract:

Introduction: Food education has been much discussed in recent years due to the need to educate the public about healthy lifestyle habits. The insertion of educational food routines in schools has been shown to be a strategy for acquiring healthy practices for both students and their families. The objective of this study was to identify the results of the application of vegetable gardens in the school environment, as well as to analyze its repercussion in the life of children, adolescents and also in the family environment. Materials and methods: It is a narrative review of the literature that consisted of two stages, the first being the choice of the descriptors in Health Sciences and the electronic bases to be researched and, later, the search for studies that answered the following question: What results found with the application of vegetable garden in schools? Results: A total of 28 articles were analyzed, 13 of which answered the research question and were included in the study. Conclusion: The school garden has positive repercussions on the lives of children and adolescents, as well as directly influencing food behavior. It provides an awareness of the environment, improves school performance and social interaction, allowing a better quality of life for those involved.
