Abstract:

Purpose:This study was conducted with the aim of determining the perceptions of the students of the 3rd and 4th grade of the University of Çanakkale on March 18th of Health High School of Ebelik on the level of possession of the qualifications of the Ebelik program. Material-Method:The sample of the study is composed of a total of 95 adult department students, including 52 (54.7%) students who are ongoing to the third class and 43 (45.2%) students who are ongoing to the fourth class. The data collection has been used in a form consisting of the program qualifications found on the high school’s website. Students have scored their degrees for each qualification in the form of '1 I am not enough, 5 I am very enough' from 1 to 5. Each qualification is calculated separately and the average score for a total of 19 qualifications. The 3 points given to the survey questions were considered to represent the achievement of qualification at the desired level, while the 4 points above were considered to represent the achievement of qualification at the desired level. Mann Whitney U test was used to test the significance of the difference between groups. The data was analyzed with the SPSS 21.0 program and the meaning level was considered p<0,05. Results:The qualification perception of the third-class students is 3.16 out of 5 points and the qualification perception of the fourth-class students is 3.61. The qualification perceptions of the students of the fourth grade are significantly higher than the students of the third grade. The qualification that students evaluate themselves positively is "Be aware of the need for lifelong education" (third-class average is 4.23; fourth-class average is 4.60 points). The qualification that students consider self-negative is "capability to carry out control, intervention and care on a risk-related birth alone" (third class average is 2.17; fourth class average is 2.63 points).  Result: The average perception of qualifications of third and fourth grade students is above the average. The students of the fourth grade evaluate themselves more positively in terms of the skills they gain. Although one of their main roles and responsibilities is "the ability to carry out control, intervention and care on a normal/risk birth alone", students feel insufficient in this regard. It will be useful to review all the components of the curriculum together with the aim of providing all the qualifications to students at the desired level.
