Abstract:

Purpose: The study aimed at evaluating the results of the polymerase chain reaction (PZR) and immunofloresan antibodies test (IFAT) for suspicious samples of blood Leishmaniasis (KanL) sent to the Veterinary Faculty of Parasitology Department Laboratories from different provinces of the Egean Region, which is considered endemic in the direction of Leishmaniasis. Methods: The IFA test was carried out using the age, gender and race of the dogs requested to be assessed in the direction of the KanL and the IFA test was carried out using 80 blood serum samples of them. Furthermore, 27 blood samples were also genetic DNA isolation and PZR with primates that multiplied the 145 bp kDNA area of the Leishmania species. Results: 37 serum samples (46.25%) were detected seropositive in at least one moisture (1/64 or 1/128) according to the IFA test. 27 examples of PZR analysis were five (18,5%) of Leishmania spp. The DNA is positively identified in its existence. According to the IFA test, 38.7% of male dogs and 59% of female dogs were positive. The maximum number of seropositive samples was detected in dogs of 3-5 years of age (11/27) . In view of the zoonotic potential of Leishmaniasis known to be endemic in the area and the high degree of positive IFAT/PZR results shown in the study, KanL is important to prevent the spread of the disease to non-endemic areas by taking advantage of advanced diagnosis methods by veterinarians in suspicious dogs, especially the use of serological and molecular tests together. The data obtained by Leishmania spp.It shows that the risk of infection caused by the disease is high in the area, and therefore it is important to conduct routine KanL controls in order to maintain both human and animal health.
