Color Doppler Ultrasonography in Behçets Disease with Ocular Involvement Behçet's disease is a chronic inflammatory disease. It is characterized by recurrent ulcers of oral cavity and genital organs. This disease is also characterized by skin lesions and uveitis of eyes. The main pathology of this disease is an obstructive vasculitis that is caused by abnormal immune complexes. It is known that there is ocular involvement in the range of 68 - 85% in Behçet's disease. Ocular involvement is the most frequent serious complication of this disease that can be resulted in blindness. Color Doppler ultrasound is recommended as a useful diagnostic tool recently for the vascular structure and blood circulation of the eye besides the different diagnostic modalities. It was available getting an images of vascular structure that are 0.1-1.0 mm in diameter with the help of Doppler ultrasonography and it is also possible to get quantitative results about blood flow of eye. That is why color Doppler ultrasound is getting importance to follow the patients with Behçet's disease. And also it is a useful tool to diagnose the progress of the disease and the prognosis of it. The bacterial disease is a chronic, inflammatory disease with repeated oral and genital ulceration, skin injury and swelling. The main pathology is contagious vasculitis caused by an abnormal immune complex circulation. With the development of congestive vasculitis in the veins of the eye, in Behçet patients, eye shutdown occurs between 68-85%. Eye shutdown is a serious complication of the disease that is often seen and can result in blindness. While different methods are used to view the blood flow and the veins of the eye, recently it has been that colored Doppler ultrasound is a preferable method. With a colored Doppler ultrasound, even vessels of the size of 0.1-1.0 mm can be shown and quantitative information about the blood flow of the eye is obtained. Therefore, the colorful Doppler ultrasound is becoming more and more important in the monitoring of Behçet patients and in the assessment of the vision and prognosis of their eye attitudes.
