Dinde hakikati, Allah’ın maksadı ortaya koyar. Din bilginleri dini metinlerden hareketle Allah’ın maksadını ortaya çıkarmada tekli ve çoklu yöntemler üzerinde durmuşlardır. Dini sosyal bir fenomen olarak değerlendiren Hasan Hanefi, sosyal bilimlerin yöntemini dini bilimlere de uygulamıştır. Ona göre dini ilimlerin yöntemi, sosyal bilimlerin yöntemiyle aynıdır. Sosyal bilimlerin yöntemi gibi dini bilimler de değişik yöntemlerle anlaşılabilir. Hasan Hanefi, düşünce tarihinde dini anlamada tek yöntem uygulamalarını çeşitli nedenlere bağlar. Bunların belli başlıları şunlardır: Yorum tekelciliği, dini otoritenin siyasallaşması, geleneğin dinileştirilmesi, dini metinlerin literal açıdan yorumlanmasıdır. İşte bu anlayış biçimlerine karşı çıkan Hasan Hanefi, ilahi dinlerin mesajlarını anlamada çoklu yöntemin çözüm olacağını ileri sürmüştür.
The truth in the religion reveals the purpose of God. The religious scientists moved from the religious texts to reveal the purpose of God on single and multiple ways. Hasan Hanefi, who considered religion a social phenomenon, applied the method of social sciences to religious sciences. The method of religious sciences is the same as the method of social sciences. Religious sciences, like the method of social sciences, can also be understood in different ways. Hasan Hanefi connects the practices of the only method in the understanding of religion in the history of thought for various reasons. Certain heads of these are: the unification of comments, the politicalization of religious authority, the interpretation of the tradition, the literal interpretation of religious texts. Hasan Hanefi, who is opposed to these forms of understanding, has claimed that the multiple methods of understanding the messages of the divine religions will be a solution.
