The wars and conflicts in different places of the world force lots of people to leave their homes and to migrate to safer areas. Such wave of migration occurred due to the civil war in Syria, from which the most affected country has been Turkey as its longest border is with Syria. The Syrians, who began to be devoid of basic human rights as their duration of stay grew longer, were given the status of “temporary protection” by the State, since they did not legally bear the status of refugee and asylee. This study aims to reveal the perception of homeland among the Syrians under temporary protection. Within this scope, 35 (22 male and 13 female) adult Syrians living in Kırşehir in 2018 were interviewed. The interviews were conducted via two translators and a semi-structured interview form was used as the data collection tool. Content analysis was done in the study and it was observed that the Syrians perceived the notion of homeland in two themes, namely spatial and original ones. Regarding the participants’ opinions about being far from their homelands, it was seen that they expressed their opinions in two categories as a positive and negative. What the Syrians expected when they took sanctuary in Turkey is gathered under three categories as equivalent rights, peace and security, and high financial income. As to what extent those expectations were met, the majority of the participants said their expectations were met, while the remaining said they were not met. The participants stated that they see Turkey as homeland. When they were asked about where they would like to live in the future, said they want to live in Turkey said.
