The aim of this study is to determine the strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities of the recreation department from the students' perspective. In the research prepared with qualitative method, case study design was used. The study group of the study consists of 36 students studying at the recreation department of the sports sciences faculty in a state university in Ankara in 2021. In the research, semi-structured interview form was used as data collection tool and descriptive analysis technique was used in the analysis of the obtained data. Accordingly, the data were collected under 4 themes and 19 categories. As a result, it is seen that most of the participants stated the increase in the need for recreational activities (f = 17) as the strength of the department, and the insufficient recognition of the recreation concept and its section (f = 28) as the weaknesses of the department. While the participants also consider the diversity of job opportunities (f = 14) as an opportunity for the recreation department, it can be stated that they perceive the high number of departments and graduates (f = 25) as a threat to the department.
