Sokak ve mahalle ilişkileri sosyal dokuyu dikkate almaksızın ele alınan dönüşüm hareketlerinden dolayı, kent yaşamında anlamını yitirmek üzeredir. Sosyal dokunun tehlikeli biçimde değişimine sadece slogan cümlelerle önlem alınamayacağı ortadadır. Mevcuttaki sosyal dokunun mekânla bağını ortaya çıkarmak, bu noktada oldukça verimli sonuçlar üretecektir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, çocukların içinde yaşadıkları kentsel mekâna, diğer bir deyişle yapılı çevre ve sosyal dokuya ilişkin algılarını, kendi sokak ve mahallelerine ilişkin çizdikleri resimlere ve söylemlerine dayalı olarak incelemektir. Çocukların üzerinden, onların anlatımlarıyla mevcut kentsel dokulara yönelik algıları temellendirmek, kent okuma literatürüne farklı bir bakış açısı kazandırabilir. Mevcut dokunun çocuk zihnindeki yerini ölçmek, yeni mekânları tasarlamaya ve sosyal dokunun aktarımına önemli katkı sağlayacaktır. Çocukların yaşadıkları kentsel mekânla ve çevresiyle olan ilişkisine odaklanan çalışmalar, çalışma sayısı olarak yetersizdir ve bu çalışma da bu ihtiyacı karşılamak üzere yola çıkmıştır. Çalışmaya konu olan Beyoğlu ilçesinde yer alan iki mahallenin (Sütlüce ve Örnektepe) tarihi çok eskilere dayanmaktadır. Bu bölge aynı zamanda kentsel yatırımların odağı konumundadır ve yakın zamanda hızlı bir değişime uğramaya başlamıştır. Kentsel dönüşüme de konu olan bu iki mahalle, henüz tamamıyla değişmeden bu bölgenin çocuklarının mahalleleriyle ilişkileri, az da olsa doğayla bağlantıları, çocuk mekânlarına olan ihtiyaçları bu çalışmayla tartışmaya açılmaktadır. Bu iki mahallede yer alan iki ilköğretim okulunda (Sütlüce Cemal Artüz İÖO ve Örnektepe Neşe Alten İÖO) okuyan (22+26) 48 7. sınıfa giden çocuğun kendi mahallelerini resmetmeleri, daha sonra resimlerini anlatmaları ve bu resimlerin değerlendirmesi çalışmanın kurgusunu oluşturmaktadır. Çocukların çizdikleri resimlerden, sokak ve mahallelerine yönelik duyguları okunduğunda daha insani ve yeşil bir çevrede yaşayan çocukların bunu resimlerine yansıttıkları görülmüştür. Yapılı çevrenin kendilerine pek fazla alan bırakmadığı yerleşimde yaşayan çocukların ise bunu resimlerinde açıkca vurguladıkları görülmüştür.
Regardless of social texture, the neighbourhood and street relations are about to lose its meaning in the city life because of the transformation movements handled. It is obvious that it is impossible to take precaution only with catchwords for the dangerous shift in social texture. Finding out the bonds between present social texture and the place will produce quite fruitful consequences. The purpose of this study is to examine the perceptions of the children about the urban space, in other words the built environment and social texture, based on their paintings and discourses on their own streets and neighborhoods. Through the children, with their expressions, grounding the perceptions about current urban textures could bring a different point of view to urban reading literature. Measuring the location of the existing urban fabric in the child's mind will contribute to the design of new spaces and the transfer of the social texture.The studies which focus on the relationship between children and the places where they live and the environment of them are in general insufficient and this study departs in order to satisfy this need. The history of the two neighborhoods (Sütlüce and Örnektepe) in the Beyoğlu district is very old. This region is also the focus of urban investments and has recently begun to undergo rapid changes. These two neighbourhoods which are also subject to urban transformation, the relationship of this region’s children with their environment before it is completely changed, their bonds with nature even if it is a few and their need to the child places are discussed in this article. In two primary schools in these two neighborhoods (22 + 26), 48 children attending the 7th grade are portraying their own neighborhoods, then telling their paintings and evaluating these pictures. It is seen that children who are living in a more human and green environment reflect their emotions in their paintings. It is observed that the children living in the settlement where the built environment does not leave much space to them clearly emphasized this in their paintings
