The purpose of this research is to show whether individual and team sports coaches have self-respect and decision-making styles in their decision-making varied by different variables. The research is of the qualitative research methods. The research group consists of 69 women (57.5 percent), 51 men (42.5 percent) and a total of 120 (age average = 25,52 ± 8.99) coaches who are active in the province of Istanbul. To determine the self-respect and decision-making styles of the coaches involved in the study, the Melbourne Decision Making Questionary I-II (Melbourne Decision Making Questionary) was developed by Mann and others (1998) and adapted to the Turkish by Deniz (2004). The standard distribution test (skewness-kurtosis) was used to determine whether the measurements are suitable for normal distribution. The T-Test and One Way - Anova Tests were implemented. The POST HOCK Sheff test has been looked at to determine the source of the difference. The research shows that coaches participating in the decision making self-respect is above the middle and middle levels with the average score of decision-making, decision-making, decision-making, decision-making delaying, and panic decision-making. According to personal characteristics, the level of careful decision-making from the decision-making subdimensions of the coaches has shown a statistically significant difference according to the variables of education, father's profession and active sporting, gender, year of service, place of residence where he spent most of his life, and the variables of mother's profession have not found a statistically significant difference.
The aim of this research is to find out whether self-esteem and decision-making styles of individual and team sports coaches differ according to various variables. The research is a descriptive qualitative research method. The research group consisted of a total of 120 coaches (mean age = 25.52 ± 8.99), 69 women (57.5%) and 51 men (42.5%), who were active in individual and team sports in Istanbul. Melbourne Decision Making Questionnaire (I-II) developed by Mann et al. (1998) and adapted into Turkish by Deniz (2004) was used to determine the self-esteem and decision-making styles of the participants. Skewness-kurtosis normality distribution test was used to determine whether the measurements were suitable for normal distribution. As a result, t-test and One way - Anova tests were applied. POST HOCK Sheff tests were used to determine the source of the difference. It was understood that the self-esteem of the coaches participating in the research was above the medium and medium level with the mean scores of decision making, careful decision making, avoiding decision making, delaying decision making and panic decision making. According to the personal characteristics, it was found that the coaches’ level of careful decision from decision making of the sub-dimensions showed a statistically significant difference according to the variables of education, father's profession and active sports, and it was no found statistically significant difference according to the variables of gender, year of service, place of residence and mother's profession.
