Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to study the professional self-qualification perceptions of English teachers according to a variety of variables (gender, professional background, level of education, the institution studied, the type of school graduated).  Therefore, the research is the illustrative qualitative causal comparison research. The universe of research is composed of 611 English teachers working in the official primary and secondary education institutions associated with the Ministry of National Education located in the province of Zonguldak in the 2021-2022 educational year. The study consists of 450 English teachers. The sample of the study accounts for 73.6% of the universe. The study used "Personal Information Form" and "Teacher Self-Qualification Scale" for the purpose of gathering data. The study used frequency (f), percentage (%), arithmetic average (X̄) and standard deviation (SS) to determine the professional self-capacity perceptions of English teachers. The score distribution was considered for causal comparisons to determine which statistical techniques will be used in comparison of intergroup average. The Kolmogrow-Smirnov test found that the score distribution showed a normal distribution when it was studied the scores of confusion and pressure. Therefore, the t test for independent groups and one-way variance analysis were used in comparison of the two group average to determine whether the professional self-capacity perceptions of English teachers differ according to the determined demographic characteristics. According to the research, the English language teachers’ professional self-qualification perceptions are quite sufficient, the gender variable is a fac to the benefit of women teachers, the professional age, the institutional variables are significantly different, and the graduated school type variable is not significantly different.
