Abstract:

Purpose: In patients with chronic lombal radical pain, transforaminal epidural steroid injection (TESE) and shocking radiofrequency (DRF) are intended to be compared with the single TESE treatment with the simultaneous application of lombal dorsal root ganglion (DKG). Method and method: A total of 129 patients were included in the study. 67 patients received TESE, 62 patients received TESE+ DKG-DRF. Demographic data, surgical interventions and types of medications, the body side and the number of the procedure was recorded. Patients were evaluated in follow-up visits on the 10th day before and after surgery, the first and third months, and the pain scores were evaluated with the Visual Analog Scale (VAS, 0-10). The third month follow-up visits measured satisfaction assessments. Successful therapeutic response was defined as a reduction of 50% or more in VAS scores. Results: Postoperative VAS scores in both groups were significantly lower than preoperative levels (p<0.001). During all tracking periods, the VAS score in the TESE+ DKG-DRF group was significantly lower than the TESE group (p.0.001). In all tracking visits, the reduction rates in VAS scores were significantly higher in the TESE+ DKG-DRF group (p.0.001). In order to improve the response to the treatment, it is recommended that the simultaneous application of DRF in the same session with TESE be considered as an option.
