Abstract The sudden transport of Meteb-i Tıbbiye-i Şahane from Demirkapı to the unfinished building in Haydarpaşa is one of the hidden problems in Turkish Medical History. This secret has remained itself more than hundred years. From time to time some researchers have declared some reasons for this transportation, but no one have proved their ideas with any kind of documents. After long research, I have found the reason of this transportation in the memories of Baron Adolf Marschall von Bieberstein, German Ambassador of Ottoman Empire, as well as Ottoman archives and in the memories of Dr. Rıfat Osman. In his memories Dr. Rıfat Osman mentioned about a rape in Gülhane, but not the moving of Demirkapı School. The building in Haydarpaşa was planned as a Military Medical School, but Sultan II. Abdulhamit wanted to use it for another purpose. Robert Rieder Pasha, schoolmate of German Emperor II. Wilhelm, was not agree whit him, so he applied to the Ottoman government, but got no replay. One day German-Hungarian woman, worked as a cook in Gülhane, was raped some soldiers in the hospital. And this case had led the Germans to use it as an excuse to move the building. This case caused an international tension between German and Ottoman diplomatic relations. Then, German Emperor II. Wilhelm gave the order to the Ambassador to withdrawal. In the following essay, you will find an interesting story not only for the history of medicine, but also for the political history.
