Abstract:

In this study, the cognitive and supernova strategies that high school students use when solving already selectively Newton’s laws of movement questions were studied taking into account the supernova awareness and the level of conceptual understanding of students. The study is based on the quality research patterns. The data of seven people was used in the work. With the method of sample measurement in the student's choice, the student's first conceptual level of understanding is determined by the scale of how to solve problems, while the conceptual level of strength subjects is determined by the scale of how to solve problems. With the obtained data, students are grouped according to the level of conceptual understanding and the level of supernova awareness. Using the voice thinking technique, the questions selected from the Basic Mechanical Test were solved to the students and a semi-configured interview was conducted towards the solution process. The research has found that students' supernova awareness and conceptual level of understanding affect the cognitive and supernova strategies they use and that students with low conceptual level of understanding use more and more strategies at the question reading stage, while supernova students with high level of understanding use more and more cognitive strategies at the solution stage.
