Abstract:

The tourism sector, which has an important economic and social role in the service sector, is recognized as an integral part of important activities because it contributes to the development of the tourism sector, employment, exchange income, regional development, top construction supply and other sectors. Therefore, countries pay serious attention to tourism activities that support economic, cultural and social development and provide the necessary support to the tourism sector in crises. It also applies crisis management and measurement policies to prevent potential problems that may arise in tourism activities. However, situations such as war, natural disasters, political problems and epidemic cause tourism activities to stop partially or entirely. Despite these crises, governments and local governments who want to be cautious in advance are developing crisis management policies or addressing possible post-crisis measures. The coronavirus epidemic has also affected tourism activities in a negative way, as it has brought many sectors to a stop by spreading from the People's Republic of China's city of Wuhan to the whole world. In this context, the purpose of the research is to statistically indicate how the epidemic process affects tourism activities carried out around the world and to reveal the measures taken for the sustainability of tourism activities. When the results of the study are examined, it is clear that the concerns about the epidemic will continue while the tourism activities carried out all over the world are seen to decline seriously. However, countries that do not want to lose income from tourism activities due to economics and other factors have begun to take measures by supporting the tourism sector with many financial, advisory and supporting packages, primarily taxes. Another outcome from the study is that, despite any possible measures, the possibility of returning to normal tourism statistics in the coming years will be limited.
