Purpose: One of the major radiological findings of Temporomandibular joint disorders (TME) is fusion. The aim of this study is to study the relationship between the TME disk position groups and the fusion with magnetic resonance imaging (MRG). Tools and methods: Patients with TME discomfort complaint to the Department of Oral Teeth and Chen Radiology of the Faculty of Dental Medicine of Erciyes University and with MRG registration have been included in this retrospective study. Sagital T1 and T2 weighted images were studied and disc positions and fusion presence were evaluated. Results: 59 of these joints were determined to have a normal disk position, 46 had an anterior reduced disk move, 59 had an anterior reduced disk move. There was a significant difference in the diffusion degree distribution between the disc groups (p<0.01). In the normal disk position group, the degree 0 (no fusion) fusion tracking frequency was significantly higher compared to the other groups(p<0.01) while in the previous non-reduction disk movement group, the degree 3 fusion tracking frequency was significantly higher compared to the other groups(p<0.01). Result: findings accompanied by advanced disk movements in TME disorders can be determined by MRG. As the stage of disque movement progresses, the frequency and severity of fusion is increasing.
