Abstract:

During the Soviet period there have been changes in all areas of life. Every effort has been made to transform man, in other words, to create the Soviet man. The new and totalitarian Soviet language, created with the aim of creating the new human type of the time, has emerged as a means of communication and a means of pressure at the same time. This totalitarian language, which is systematically organized by the central language policy, which controls all areas of society’s life, has had a special repertoire and an imposing ideological effect. In the limits of the repressive state, the totalitarian language which has been made functional has also been placed in the folklore. The ideological role of the folklore is determined on the basis of the views that the works created by the people can be expressed by the voice of the people (vox populi) and that the opinions of the party among the wide masses can make a significant contribution to the propaganda. Despite the fact that the subtype of folklore speech appears in the process of natural speech, in the 1930s, their artificial creation in the Soviet Union became widespread. The words created in accordance with the purposes of the power have been used as a propaganda tool in favor of anti-religious and the new political system. This study examines so-called Soviet speeches, which have a high potential for propaganda in the context of ideology-folklore. Document scanning, content analysis and comparison methods used to address the vocabulary definitions, the characteristics of the Soviet era and language, the reasons for the creation of the Soviet vocabulary, the structural, meaningful and functional characteristics with examples.
