Association of dietetic pattern with the nutritional status of adolescentes

Abstract:

Introduction: Adolescents are the group that present the greatest inadequacy in relation to the dietetic profile that is characterized by the excessive consumption of soft drinks, sugars and fast food and the use of monotonous diets or food modism and no realization of breakfast, thus propitiating a prognosis for the increase of overweight and chronic non-communicable diseases. Objective: To associate the dietetic profile with the nutritional status of adolescents from a state school. Materials and methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study, in the which if the was assessed dietetic profile and nutritional status of 32 high school adolescents, of both sexes, aged between 15 and 18 years, was held the mensuaration of weight and stature, having the Body Mass Index (BMI) as a parameter and a questionnaire was applied mode in if observe the food frequency. Results: The evaluated population 78.12% was female, in relation to nutritional status a high percentage of adolescents they were eutrophic (90, 62%), although prevalence of overweight and obesity is low, note a inadequate food consumption. Discussion: Inappropriate eating habits in adolescence consist of a relevant risk factor for obesity and other chronic non-communicable diseases in life adult, that is why it is important the incentive the promotion of habits healthy for this population. Conclusion: The adolescents presented adequate anthrometric data, but food consumption is far from appropriate, with a high consumption of sugars and fats.
