In classical Western music, the term program music, which represents the generality of instrumental music works, which are a text-based narrative, is separated from pure music due to its narrative direction and requires a correct understanding, like all artworks of this kind. The story of each work, which is expressed through a title, a post or a text, creates an art field that is unable to be understood for the listener without any pre-work. In the study, the German philosopher Hans-Georg Gadamer and the philosophical hermeneutique’s efforts to understand the art and text approaches have prepared an assessment ground. The chosen program music was focused on the art field in the composer's mind, how and to what extent it can be approached; the question of whether the proposed readings are a necessity or a necessity in order to be well understood of such works was discussed.
