Özet:

This study aims to verify through a literature search the advantages and disadvantages of bariatric surgery for the treatment of morbid obesity. The procedures are commonly performed the technical restrictions, and disabsortivas mixed. The analysis of studies in the field of bariatric surgery, show that the age ranges between 17 and 71 years, the time of each study varies from 6 months to 5 years after surgery. Of the 12 articles collected all presented as benefits of weight loss post-operatively, 1 study showed improvement in lipid profile, 1 presented fasting plasma glucose and serum albumin within the range of normality, 1 presented reducing the resistance to insulin and to reduce cardiovascular risk, 1 showed improved esteose fibrosis. As disadvantages 3 studies showed low absorption of nutrients, 1 cholelithiasis presented in the postoperative period, 1 had stomach cancer after 5 years of surgery, 1 showed massive pulmonary embolism and death from complications of gastrointestinal fistula, 1 presented three cases of depression, binge eating, Anorexia nervosa and two deaths. With the literature search can be observed that the bariatric surgery for the treatment of morbid obesity is effective in encouraging weight loss and minimize the co-morbidities such as dislipídemias and diabetes, but can generate disorders in nutritional and psychological state. Patient candidate for surgery must have a psychiatric and psychological counselling at different stages of treatment.
