Informal reading inventories are evaluation tools which serve to assess the students' reading skills and their use of reading strategies in individual sessions and provide opportunities to examine the relationship between the learning environment and the reading levels. Informal reading inventories include narratives, expository texts and word lists which aim to evaluate strong and weak properties of the students who are between the beginers and advanced levels. By using informal reading inventories the student's independent, instructional and frustration levels in word recognition and reading comprehension skills could be determined and the information could be obtained for developing individualized reading instruction program.
