This study has been undertaken with the aim of identifying the opinions and predictions of 4th and 5th year students at the Veterinary Faculties of the Kafkas and Adnan Menderes Universities concerning the profession of veterinary medicine and the areas of employment. With this aim, a face-to-face survey was conducted with a total of 160 veterinary faculty students including 74 from the Veterinary Faculty of the Kafkas University and 76 from the Veterinary Faculty of the Adnan Menderes University. From the analysis of the data, it was found that 83.8% of the participants were male, 43.1% lived in a city and 86.9% were willingly studying veterinary medicine. 35% and 25% of the students stated that they intend to undertake master’s and doctoral studies. 36.9% stated that the profession was not given the due importance among the public and/or in the government sector. However, 76.9% of them stated that the importance of the profession would increase in the process of harmonization with the European Union. 91.2% stated that the profession of veterinary medicine had significant advantages in terms of employment. The data indicated that only 41.2% of the students had worries about future employment. However their choice is determined most clinical veterinarian and the public area as a field of business. According to the participants, the main problems that can be faced following graduation are a lack of knowledge and/or experience concerning the area of practice of the profession, failure in exams such as KPSS, ALES, YDS and unfair competition. In conclusion, it may be said that although After graduating from veterinary faculties students have certain worries on issues related to practising the profession of veterinary medicine, they are nevertheless hopeful both in the process of harmonization with the European Union and in anticipation of a greater social importance of the profession.
