Toplumların varlıklarını koruyup sürdürebilmesindeki en önemli etken kültürdür. Kültürün temel taşlarından olan geleneğin yaşatılması ve devamlılığının sağlanması adına geleneğe ilişkin öğelerin aslına bağlı kalarak geleceğe taşınması son derece elzemdir. İşte bu geleceğe aktarım güncelleme vasıtasıyla gerçekleşmektedir. Güncellemenin aktif olarak yapılabileceği alanlardan bir tanesi geleneksel mesleklerdir. Çalışmada ele alınan geleneksel mesleklerden olan keçecilik, çağın ihtiyaçlarına cevap verebilecek şekilde kendini yenileyip Kula’da varlığını sürdürmektedir. Çalışmada güncellemenin hangi çerçeveler dâhilinde yapılması gerektiğine, mesleklerin devamlılığı açısından güncellemenin önemine dikkat çekilmiş ve Kula’daki keçecilik zanaatı gelenek, geleneğin güncellenmesi, geleneksel meslek, Somut Olmayan Kültürel Miras bakımından değerlendirilmiştir.
