Abstract:

Saadi’s work Gulistan has been the subject of translations, annotations and imitations and read by different societies. This work of Saadi is not only effective within the borders of Iran, it is known in all world literatures, as well. This effect has continued until today. It has been read as a textbook in madrasahs during the Ottoman period and is among the first sources for teaching Persian Language. Gulistan has taken its place among the most read works in Turkish literature with its translations, annotations and imitations. Many Turkish authors have been influenced by Gulistan and expressed this in their works. Many Turkish translations and interpretations of Gulistan have been made; also, its Persian imitations have been written by Turkish authors. One of these imitations is written by Fevzi Efendi. Fevzi Efendi named this work as Bulbulistan, which he completed in 1310, and gave it to Abdulhamid the Second. Fevzi also stated that he wrote this work as an imitation of Feriduddin Attar's work named Baharistan. Bulbulistan is written in prose and verse. This article gives information about the work of Fevzi and Bulbulistan and translates Persian verses in Bulbulistan into Turkish.
