Abstract:

Plants are an important part of nature, as well as their long-term use in accordance with cultural and religious values. One of the most important ways to understand cultures is to study the garden architecture that a society leaves behind. Although water elements have an important place in garden use, the main stone of garden designs is decorated plants. In the plant designs made, the use of plants, with the influence of faith and culture, also shows changes. Iran’s garden art has an important place in the world as its impact has a garden style that is also seen in neighboring countries. The peoples living in Iran have grown most of the trees, flowers and vegetables since ancient times. As a result of changing beliefs and cultures, every plant in Iran has revealed a meaning and purpose of use. In this study, in the light of the scaned literature related to the Iranian garden art; in the Iranian garden art, the meaning and use of plants from the past to the present has been studied and the culture of plant use in the Iranian garden art has been developed.
