Beginning midwifery students' initial clinical experience can be stressful. Learning may be inhibited if students experience undue stress in the clinical setting. Objective: This study was done for investigating the stress symptoms and ways coping among the first degree midwifery students' of before and after the first experience in clinic. Material Method: The descriptive research was applied to 74 students studying in Ege University İzmir Atatürk School of Health and accepting to participate in the research. Results: In this study, active coping styles were used more frequently by the midwifery students. Conclusion: The average points of passive style of midwifery students had significantly lower in the end of initial clinical experience. Midwifery students' should be developed of coping skills
